An article in today's Arizona Republic states that Amtrak has delayed its discontinuance of Phoenix rail passenger service, pending merger of the Southern Pacific and the Union Pacific Railroads "'until midsummer or fall,' spokeswoman Marci Larson said."
Amtrak will wait until "after the purchase is complete... [to] decide whether to shift the passenger-train service" from Phoenix.
