Arizona Rail Passenger Association
It is not the largest feature of Propositions 1 and 2, but it may be the most significant for thousands of citizens.
It is also one of the primary reasons I will be voting YES and urge my fellow citizens to vote YES as well.
This plan finally establishes Sunday bus service in the City of Phoenix and that, in turn, will mean that thousands of citizens, who have not been able to attend worship services for lack of transportation, will finally be able to do so. For me and my fellow clergy, that single aspect of this measure might be enough to have earned our support.
But there is more.
Citizens who will be able to attend worship services on Sunday will also be able to travel to jobs throughout the community Monday through Friday.
They'll be able to go to an evening movie on safe, reliable buses that continue running well into the night.
Or go shopping at a time that is convenient for them.
And for our senior citizens, there is the commitment of an efficient Dial-A-Ride system that will finally end the frustration of long waits for a simple ride to a doctor's appointment or to visit their grandchildren.
Voting YES, my fellow citizens, is about much more than cutting down traffic congestion and reducing the air pollution that plague so many of us.
It is also about constructing new connections within our community that will help bind us together and improve the quality of our lives.
