Proposition 1 Argument

Argument in Support of Proposition #1:

On September 9 the voters of Phoenix will have the opportunity to allow our city to take a giant leap into the first tier of our nation's cities.

It is inexcusable that the seventh largest city in the U.S. should barely be in the top fifty cities in terms of public transit. On September 9 a "yes" vote on Proposition 1 will correct this deficiency.

A "yes" vote for Proposition 1 will enable second and third shift workers, as well as church-goers and weekend shoppers, their first chance to utilize the bus system. An increased use of public transit will decrease the Valley's cloud of pollution and ease the congestion on our streets and highways. Everyone will benefit, whether they ride the bus or not.

A first rate city deserves a first rate public transit system. I urge everyone to vote "yes" on Proposition 1 on September 9.
