Tempe, 1996 (photo: John Crawford)The Tempe depot now houses Macayo's Depot Cantina, a renowned Mexican restaurant. The Sunset Limited and Texas Eagle served this location between 1987 and 1995.

The ARPA installed its Adopt-A-Depot sign at the Tempe station on July 16, 1993; it is presently covered with a "discontinued" notice.

  • The Tempe depot is close to Downtown Tempe, the Grady Gammage Auditorium, and Arizona State University
  • The "Creamery Branch" of the UPRR runs right past Sun Devil Stadium, and is perfectly suited for special trains to stop (there's already a paved platform). This is one of the proposed alignments of the light rail system.
