The Verde Canyon Railway (Arizona Central Railroad) runs from Clarkdale (near the historic mining town of Jerome) to the sleepy hamlet of Perkinsville along the magnificent Verde River Canyon. Passenger service through the stunning Verde River Canyon near Sedona began on November 23, 1990.

Above: Verde Canyon Railroad's newly restored caboose glistens in the Fall sun at Clarkdale, AZ on Oct 29, 2005. Normally averaging 14 car trains powered by two vintage FP-7 diesels, the ride is now punctuated by the former ATSF Ce-2 Waycar (ex-999373) which was completely renovated and repainted this past summer to serve as a privatecar for tour groups... the caboose can be rented for a cool $1000.00.
