Provides service on over a mile of street trackage, recovered from Tucson's original street railway. "Beginning in the heart of the Fourth Avenue business district, the trolley track passes a remarkable variety of shops and restaurants. The track then turns onto University Boulevard, passing the Arizona Historical Society and beautifully restored homes, boutiques and cafes, ending at the main gate of the University of Arizona."
Currently serving is car #869, returned to its original configuration -- quite different from its appearance as #255 when it was received from Japan. #869 is in the green and cream livery of the Old Pueblo.
There are several parallels with the McKinney Avenue Transit Authority operating in Dallas. MATA operates a fleet of historic streetcars along several miles of mostly original trackage in that Texas city. Not only have Dallas' operators trained Old Pueblo personnel, but Dallas and Tucson both have purchased Toronto PCC cars. In Dallas, the two Toronto cars are being re-gauged and will service the upcoming extensions of streetcar service which will connect the historic cars to the modern light-rail system.
