ADOT Director

in Recognition of her Support of Passenger Rail in the Public Sector

Mary Peters was appointed Director of the Arizona Department of Transportation by Governor Jane Hull in 1997. Under Ms. Peters' leadership, the Arizona High Speed Rail study completed its first phase. She is establishing "Maximum Configuration" standards for Arizona highways -- our roads will not be expanded beyond six or eight lanes. Ms. Peters continues to work to bring multi-modalism to Arizona. As she stated at the Dinner, "We stopped being the Arizona Department of Highways in 1974; it's time we acted that way."
