Last January 10th, our Board of Directors unanimously passed a resolution asking Amtrak West to include Arizona in your system. A copy of the resolution is enclosed.
More attention is being paid to rail concepts in Arizona than ever before. A City of Phoenix mass-transit funding referendum failed last September, but only by 126 votes. A Governor's Phoenix-Tucson High Speed Rail Task Force -- on which four of ARPA's board serve -- will release our findings in April. And the owners of our new Major League Beaseball Team plan to operate a commuter rail demonstration between Tempe, Arizona, and the new downtown ballpark sometime this Spring.
Our Board looks forward to hearing from you, and to working together to bring the quality of passenger rail service for which Amtrak West is respected to Arizona.
