Trains in Arizona: Amtrak
Sunset Limited
(#1/#2)
Southern Pacific first operated the Sunset Limited in
December 1894 as a seasonal train. Since the late 1960's, it has operated three
times a week; it is the only Amtrak train to never have been daily. On April 4,
1993, Amtrak started the Miami-Los Angeles extension, discontinuing service to
Phoenix in 1995 and truncating the train to Sanford in 1996, and to Orlando in
1997.
