A longtime supporter of the Association as state Representative and Senator, Ms. Steffey introduced an "Arizona Rail Authority" bill in 1994. Although the bill was defeated, she has maintained her commitment to rail. She was instrumental in the creation of the 1994 Arizona Rail Task Force which, in turn, influenced the creation of the 1998 Phoenix-Tucson High Speed Rail Task Force.
