(1994) Mr. Bethel attended the University of Arizona in Tucson, where he studied Regional Development. As a resident of downtown Phoenix, his main interests include downtown revitalization, property management, preservation and development, high-speed rail, intercity rail and local transit. Mr. Bethel would like to pursue the designation and development of a high speed rail corridor from Nogales to Los Angeles via Tucson and Phoenix before the year 2010. He believes that such a rail line would encourage urban in-fill, reduce urban sprawl by utilizing central-city train stations, and eliminate the need for a regional airport by replacing short distance flights under 500 miles with high speed rail.
