A wide range of materials have been printed by various branches of the U.S. government on the subject of rail passenger transportation. The Congressional Record contains numerous documents of appropriate house and senate committees. Various reports of the Interstate Commerce Commission include the 1978 Report to the President and the Congress on the Effectiveness of the Rail Passenger Service Act of 1970, which is particularly pertinent. The U.S. Department of Transportation has also printed a wide range of reports on Amtrak.
